Civil Service Exams

Civil Service is a public employment system based on merit and fitness.

Section 1737 of the New York City School Construction Authority’s enabling legislation is subject to New York State Civil Service Law and oversight by the New York State Civil Service Commission. The SCA is responsible for administering its own civil service system in accordance with applicable New York State laws.

All SCA positions fall into jurisdictional classification and are part of the Civil Service system. Positions in the competitive class require individuals to take a civil service examination and be appointed from an established list.
