Destiny Palmer

Energize. Then go with the flow.

2023

Destiny Palmer, Energize. Then go with the flow. , 2023, ceramic pigment digitally printed on laminated tempered glass, PS 47 Chris Galas, Queens Energize. Then go with the flow. is a site-specific artwork created by Destiny Palmer for the lobby of the new P.S. 47 Chris Galas, Queens. The printed glass installation is a colorful abstract composition that evokes the dynamic energy and life force of surrounding Jamaica Bay. Against a brilliant blue gradient, intricate yellow linework suggests cresting waves, while vivid splashes of color playfully swirl across the twin transoms like a school of fish or a churning current. The artwork’s luminous color palette appears to change throughout the day as it is activated by the natural daylight filtering into the school lobby. Palmer's exuberant use of form and color to suggest motion is also meant as an abstract interpretation of the joy and energy students draw from the experience of learning. Destiny Palmer, Energize.
